Our Guiding Principles

Integrity

The word Integrity encompasses many attributes since the word itself means wholeness of character. It’s about doing what is right, both morally and legally. It is an attribute you nurture by adhering to moral principles. For Suggero, it means:

  • Being honest with yourself and others around you

  • Always doing the right thing regardless as to the outcome

  • Being consistent in behavior on all matters, whether trivial or significant in nature

  • Demonstrating to others how important it is to avoid compromising situations

  • Being authentic by admitting when you have made a mistake

Respect

Respect means considering those around you as worthy of high regard. At Suggero, we expect all of us to respect one another in all interactions, thoughts, communications, and beliefs. That applies to all our fellow employees, clients, vendors, and the world at large. Respect also means we nurture a culture of inclusion and diversity…embracing our differences, such as age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, education, and national origin. Here are just a few practical examples of how we embody respect at Suggero:

  • Listening and reflecting before acting

  • Being empathetic in all our interactions with others

  • Actively seeking compromise when in a stalemate

Responsibility

Responsibility means we are accountable for our actions, decisions and behaviors. It means that we can be trusted. It also means we have a positive choice in how we react to situations around us rather than laying blame or leaving it to others to resolve. Responsibility demonstrates to others that our value system is strong and can’t be influenced.

Taking responsibility is sometimes very hard but the outcome ultimately leads to growth and personal maturity. Suggero will nurture an environment where everyone feels comfortable being able to accept responsibility without consequence.

Selflessness

Selflessness means putting the welfare of your colleagues and clients before your own. It is about planting your loyalty to the values of the organization before personal gain. In other words, the premise of selflessness is the commitment of each employee to go further, endure longer, and contribute to the overall success of the company and its clients. The culture of Suggero is not around self-ego, self-promotion, or rising to the top by denigrating those around you. There is nothing wrong with the desire to succeed, but that desire must be used in a way that ensures that everyone can participate in a healthy way to that success. Self-success is the antithesis of leadership and the overall culture of Suggero. We need everyone to succeed. Here are examples of selflessness at Suggero:

  • You exhibit gentleness, empathy, and kindness versus aggressiveness, ridicule, and dismissiveness

  • You go out of your way to ensure that those who are struggling are given a hand

  • You let others praise your successes

Action

Rarely do you ever see a guiding principle (or core value) around the term Action. Why is that? What good is laying out a blueprint for how an organization is going to follow a kind, moral-centric path to success if there is no mechanism to ensure that success? That is why the fifth guiding principle for Suggero is Action. Guiding principles are not mere words, they are the core of how Suggero operates. Action helps ensure that the first four principles are brought to life and made part of the overall culture of Suggero. The definition of Action means accomplishing something over a period of time with the possibility of repetition. Action within Suggero is:

  • Living and exhibiting the fundamental principles every day

  • Calling out in a professional but forthright way when someone is not living up to any principle

  • Offering ideas, advice, counsel on how Suggero can better enhance or implement our Guiding Principles

Giving Back

There are countless people around the world—many in our own backyard—who are in desperate need of support. Suggero is fortunate and honored to be a company that makes Giving a key aspect of our culture. We wish it could be higher, but today we are committed to allocating 10% of our work effort and 10% of our overall revenue for very worthy causes such as the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. We also recognize that we can do more in building a better world by leveraging resources beyond just our own employees. That’s why we go about bringing together our employees’ families, our business neighbors, and the broader community to work together in support of those in need. From the onset, our employees are committed to being active and giving members of their communities by supporting local causes and charities. We engage them in helping identify our ongoing charitable investments that:

  • Advance racial equality and economic opportunity

  • Focus on equitable, inclusive and diverse environmental causes

  • Embrace public involvement and build a sense of community
